We walked in the wild
Galoshes on our feet
More than one child
Marching by the beat
Galloping from places
Caught up in surprise
A trip and fall
A snake or two
A distant call
Like in a zoo
A howl, a hiss
Is not absurd
The arrow missed
Pull out the sword
A drink, a splash
A sting, a bite
No need for cash
Can fly a kite
A jump, a shout
It’s all it is
Imagination played out
In the wilderness.

Only if he could escape her mind
No longer will she drag the memories behind
Thoughts leave her in a state of unrest
Holding the desire that’s pounding in her chest.
He planted a seed inside her head
The flower is growing, it’s not yet dead,
Approaching the skies and reaching for you
Something so beautiful, noble, and true.
The rule still stands, one must be devoted
She withered inside as about him she doted
Cupid shot without an aim
One heart gone and one in flame.
Remembering the moments they had once made
She stood tall, confident, and unafraid
Like a flower beginning to bloom
Just as the moment that ended too soon.
Desire dried up the flower to death
Leaving her with just one single breath.
Now too timid and ever so weak
Forever is lost, she’s unable to speak
Goodbye to a journey they will never know
Their Love is a flower that never shall grow.

They say, “It’s not about where you’re going but it’s who you’re with.”
But this was just a song in times we’ve spent in grief
And miles away I wondered, wondered where you’ll be
Into a stream of thought bounded by memory
I have known your name; I haven’t seen your face
The room between my fingers was your empty space
I’m chasing just a memory of ten years ago
I guess some things have changed but I may never know
I hear it took some courage the way our timing flew
They said that in the end, one may not feel so blue
Where did directions change? The compass was now lost
Can’t find my way back home, it’s you I miss the most!
Our lives were full of chances that were never taken
Many mistakes were made but some were not forsaken
I wanted you to be there, I wanted you to see
The things that never came to pass – our future memory
They say, “What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger”
I only wish you stuck around for just a moment longer.

The empty swing now sits in dust
The broken chains have turned to rust
Stories of our childhood told
The magic of the young and bold
Charming bright smiles run around town
In search of adventure which cannot be found
The wildest of all imagination
Made by the hands of God’s creation
From the first bruise to the last sting
Wonderful memories forward to bring
Now young no more, I understand
But, how I wish to be a child again,
Laughing our heads off out in the snow
As Guardian Angels watched us bellow
Ninja chopping the waves of the Pacific ocean
Cart-wheels on the beach without any lotion
Playing with bugs and the famous snail race
Swinging on ropes like the pirates we chase
Climbing on trees and breaking bones
Splashing in water or skipping stones
Roller blade rides under the lights
King of the hill and snowball fights
Building sandcastles and men of snow
Telling stories with a puppet show
Constructing great snow forts and sledding outside
Down the icy white hills, the most wonderful ride
Dancing in the summer shower
Breathe in the air like smelling a flower
Wishing and dreaming upon a star
Impossible is nothing, a kid is who you are!
Dreams of being astronauts, flying to the moon
No longer a kid, but I’ll be coming back real soon.

In a time rarely remembered
Outside she sat quietly sobbing
With summer days grabbed by September
A little heart that kept on throbbing,
She gazed at children on the bars
Distracted by the laughs she heard
Looking for the moments to be hers
Closed her ears to every word,
She tried and tried,
The loops didn’t follow
She wanted only but to ride
The slide, before seeing tomorrow
Or just to hop on the pavement side to side.
With arms folded, stubborn eyes
She kicked the leaves in time for when
Frustration hit without surprise
To find the shoe untied again
She thought, I must not waste another minute
Bit her lip, picked up the pace
This is my battle, I shall win it
Crossing the bunny loops of lace
Ran to the teacher yelling, “I did it!”
That moment she could not replace.
Her eyes welled up, “you’re just in time;
That tie looks splendid!”
By the door kids formed a line
She knew that recess had just ended.

Half smiling look and hazy eyes
Unsure of what to do
Afraid to say goodbye.
Last glance into a mothers face
A hand still held
Small heart is beating out of place.
Destination made has come to stay
A chance has passed
Too late to walk away.
Can’t fly back, so hold your tears
Forget what’s been
Time strikes for brighter years.
Some said You’ll be well better of
Some said You should have stayed
Some said, now kid it’s up to You
But once it’s done, decision’s made.
She could’t bear to look and wave
Into the lonely stares
As moments passed a tear had rolled
But nobody was there.
When the world turns oh, so bitter
And tears start pouring down like rain
I hope to find i’m not a quitter
By the words that will remain.
Hundreds of years, a thousand faces
Stories of passion, dreams, and time
From all around in different places
Beauty reveled in every line.
Alive he wrote the books we save
Now to the memories we’re bound
How still he lies within his grave
Speaking words without a single sound.
Yet, life he loved at its best
And closed the darkest door
Forgiving days of old past
Into the words of poetry he’d pour.
Love was a topic much admired
He brought a piece of it to earth
The only wish he had desired
Fragmented by the sin at birth.
I whisper words with admiration
In the filled pages of his book
Such pure and honest inspiration
Gives my life a brand new look.
