You Are A Kindness

You had a mystery about you
And I saw it in your eyes
From the moment that I met you
You caught the crowd by surprise.

Maybe those eyes covered in sadness
And for that heart there was a plan
Someday, someone would catch your madness
And let yourself live free again.

Perhaps there was another passion
That was yet to be revealed
A hopeful voice, in usual fashion
Whispering “please just be still,

Stop running, searching, contemplating,
Breathe, and let you mind just soar,”
Because there was a human waiting,
One that you had not met before.

For a moment you remembered
How it was to really feel,
A child dancing in September
To cry, to know that it was real,

To imagine, to let go,
To live a life that’s being lived
You are not the thoughts you know
You are more than You’ve believed!

And one day you’ll see it too
How you light up every room
And those tears that you once knew
Won’t be coming back so soon.

Childhood Forest

ImageWe walked in the wild
Galoshes on our feet
More than one child
Marching by the beat
Smiling faces
Wondering eyes
Galloping from places
Caught up in surprise
A trip and fall
A snake or two
A distant call
Like in a zoo
A howl, a hiss
Is not absurd
The arrow missed
Pull out the sword
A drink, a splash
A sting, a bite
No need for cash
Can fly a kite
A jump, a shout
It’s all it is
Imagination played out
In the wilderness.

Days of Old Wonders

The empty swing now sits in dust
The broken chains have turned to rust
Stories of our childhood told
The magic of the young and bold
Charming bright smiles run around town
In search of adventure which cannot be found
The wildest of all imagination
Made by the hands of God’s creation
From the first bruise to the last sting
Wonderful memories forward to bring
Now young no more, I understand
But, how I wish to be a child again,
Laughing our heads off out in the snow
As Guardian Angels watched us bellow
Ninja chopping the waves of the Pacific ocean
Cart-wheels on the beach without any lotion
Playing with bugs and the famous snail race
Swinging on ropes like the pirates we chase
Climbing on trees and breaking bones
Splashing in water or skipping stones
Roller blade rides under the lights
King of the hill and snowball fights
Building sandcastles and men of snow
Telling stories with a puppet show
Constructing great snow forts and sledding outside
Down the icy white hills, the most wonderful ride
Dancing in the summer shower
Breathe in the air like smelling a flower
Wishing and dreaming upon a star
Impossible is nothing, a kid is who you are!
Dreams of being astronauts, flying to the moon
No longer a kid, but I’ll be coming back real soon.

Roots of the Young

Remembering when this first started
Even before the day we parted
When a heart was young and tender
No need to be the best pretender
When smiles and laughter brought us pleasure
When we relied on heavenly treasure
Faith so big one cannot hide
Now not so sure, consumed by pride
Sitting and wondering thinking about
The questions no man can figure out.
When being Yourself was the best one could be
Life was adventure, imagination flew free,
But those days are gone as older we get
Memories fade, we begin to forget
The old fun times, the most wonderful places
Gone in a blank, now meeting new faces
And those are the years we can never regain
Life without troubles, life without pain
We’re just a story that’s yet to be told
Smiling and crying while growing old.
